The LabArchives Android App complements the full web version of LabArchives ELN while leveraging tablet and smartphone features, such as image or video capture and voice to text. You can download the Mobile App from the Google Play Store.
Due to device variations, the screenshots shown in this document may appear slightly different on your device. The functionality will remain the same.
If you access LabArchives through your Institutional single sign on system, click "Sign in through your institution”, and select your institution from the list. You will be redirected your institution login page.
Notebook Navigator
After logging in, you will see the structure of your lab notebook. To view other notebooks in your account, tap the icon on the top left. To open a Page or folder tap on the name of that item. To create a new page or folder tap , provide a name for the page or folder, and tap "Add."
Create and Edit Entries
To add a new entry to a page tap or the Create Something Newlink, and select the entry type that you would like to add. To edit an existing entry, first tap on the entry, then tap the pencil icon on the top left. When you are finished with the entry, click the Save Entry button the top left corner of your entry to save. To cancel your edits, click the Cancel button.
Rich Text |
The rich text entry allows you to add, edit and format text on the page. To learn more Rich Text entries please click HERE.

Office Document |
Office documents can be viewed on all mobile devices. Note for iPad users: On iPad devices using Safari will give the option to edit Office files online. Note for Android users: Using Chrome and switching to “Desktop Site” (via Chrome’s triple dot menu) will give the option to edit Office files online. |

Header |
Headings allow you to divide a notebook page making it more readable and visually appealing. |

Plain Text |
The Plain text entry does not have the formatting options available with the rich text entry. Note: Plain text entries viewed on the mobile app do not support Markdown |

Image |
You can take an image or attach an image from your library. Name the image, add an optional description, and tap Save to page to upload. Note that you can upload multiple images, just as you do when working on a desktop computer.

Video |
You can take a video or attach a video from your library. Name the video, add an optional description, and tap Save to page to upload.

Sketch |
Unfortunately, the sketch entry is not available on the mobile app. |

Comments
To view or comment on an entry tap the Comment Icon. If an entry has a comment you will you see a green number indicating the number of comments. When you are finished adding your comment, tap Done to save. To delete a comment, tap on the trash bin icon next to it.
Search
To perform a simple search of your notebook, tap the at the top left of the page. To learn more about the LabArchives Search feature CLICK HERE.
Advanced Search
To perform an advanced Search of your notebook, tap the at the top left of the page. To learn more about the LabArchives Search feature CLICK HERE.
Session Timeout Feature
Your institution may set an institution-wide timeout for the web app sessions. If you are inactive for a period of time, you will see the following message. Once the session has timed out, you will be back on the Login page.
Speech to text
User can take advantage of the voice to text options provided on the keyboard of their mobile device. Due to the variation in devices, please contact the manufacturer of your device for more information on the voice to text options available.

Many devices support the use of a stylus to input text using the keyboard. Due to the variation in devices, please contact the manufacturer of your device for more information on the handwriting to text options available.
