The Notebook to PDF feature allows you to export your entire notebook or specific sections (folders or pages) into a PDF format. This function is especially valuable for:
- Archiving research data and protocols
- Sharing content with collaborators who don’t have access to your notebook
- Submitting materials for publication or regulatory review
- Complying with institutional, legal, or funding agency documentation requirements
Exporting Your Entire Notebook as a PDF
To download a PDF version of your complete notebook:
- Click the triple-dot menu from the upper-right corner of the navigation bar.
- Select Utilities and click Notebook to PDF.
Customize the output of the PDF to include the following:
- Show Comments - Enabled by default. Includes any comments associated with entries.
- Show Empty Folders - Disabled by default. Excludes any folders without pages.
Once the PDF is generated, a yellow banner will appear at the top of the notebook allowing you to download the PDF. Additionally, an email is sent with a link to retrieve the PDF. The PDF can also be retrieved from the Activity Feed Reports filter.
Exporting a Folder or Page as a PDF
To export specific folders or individual pages from your notebook:
- From the Notebook Navigator, right-click (or
Ctrl+Clickon Mac) the desired folder or page. - Select PDF from the menu.
Customize the output of the PDF to include the following:
- Show Comments - Enabled by default. Includes any comments associated with entries.
- Show Empty Folders – Disabled by default. Empty folders will not be included in the PDF download. If downloading a page, this option will not display.
