Dataverse is an open-source web application that has been adopted by institutions and individuals to share preserve, cite, and analyze research data. Many institutions utilize a Dataverse repository for their researchers’ data to meet data sharing requirements from funding agencies. LabArchives supports compliance with data sharing requirements through a direct integration with Dataverse.
If your organization allows public sharing of LabArchives data and has enabled this feature, users with the role of Notebook Owner, Account Administrator, or Notebook Administrator can publish notebook data to a Dataverse Dataset. Data can be exported from LabArchives ELN at multiple levels: a single entry, page, or multiple pages.
How to Export Notebook Data to Dataverse
- Log into your Dataverse account in a separate browser tab before initiating the export.
- From the Notebook Navigator panel, right-click on the notebook name, page, or folder that you would like to export to Dataverse and select Share. If you wish to export a single entry, locate the entry, click on its triple-dot icon, then select Share.
- From the Share dialog window, select Publish Data tab.
- Select Export to Dataverse and click continue.
- The Export to Dataverse form requires obtaining your personal API Token from Dataverse, specifying the URL of the Dataverse Site for your organization, and then selecting a dataset to which you will upload the exported data.
-
To obtain your Dataverse API Token, click on your account name in the Dataverse navbar, then select API Token from the dropdown menu. Select Create Token and copy to clipboard and paste in the API Token field on LabArchives Export to Dataverse page.
- Enter the URL for the Dataverse Site to which you will upload data from LabArchives. If your institution has its own Dataverse installation, contact your representative to obtain the URL.
