LabArchives Inventory makes searching for items in your inventory easy with several tools you help you zero in on the item you are seeking. You can search using the name of an inventory item, use filters to narrow your search to specific Inventory Type or Location, or date received. In addition, QR Codes can be used to retrieve information on a specific item.

Search options:
Simple search (Keyword search) from the home page:
This is a quick way to search for an inventory item by name only. This quick search does not search other fields in an inventory record, nor does it include filters.
As you enter your query, the search bar suggests matching items along with key details, helping you to quickly identify and select the item you're looking for.
Full search from the Inventory page:
Running a search from Inventory page provides you with many more options. All the fields of the inventory item are searched, not just the Name field as in the Simple search on the home page. To perform a keyword search, simply type in your keywords in the search inventory box and click Search.
For additional Search Filters, click the arrow next to search.
Advanced Search:
The advanced search tool allows you to select various fields used in your inventory.
The first dropdown list will allow you to select the field that you would like to search. This includes standard fields like name and quantity, but it also includes any custom fields that you use for selected inventory types. To learn more about fields and inventory types, click here.
The middle dropdown will allow you to filter these results. As an example, if you want to search for an expiration date, you can look for an exact match, between two dates, after a certain date, or before a certain date.
The last field allows you to type in or select the value to be searched. If the Field that is the focus of the search (the first selection) is a text field, you will be able to type in a search term; however, if it is a date field or list of pre-definied values, you will see options to select dates or an item from the list.
By clicking “And..” you can add additional filters. The results will show any inventory items that match both results.
If you select the same field more than once, it will search for the first result or the second result.
If you use a certain search regularly, you may want to click “Save this search” and add a name to save your search. Once you save a certain search, you can quickly run the same search again by selecting from the “Saved Searches” list.
Please note: Constructing a query using “Does not Contain” will not match empty values. i.e. Description “Does Not Contain” “This is a very short description of your item” will not populate items that have an empty description field.
Filters:
On the left-hand of the Inventory page you will see the Filters that can be used alone or in combination with a search query to limit the inventory items displayed based on
Inventory Type
Location
Received Date Range
Availability (to show out of stock items)
You can combine the filters to view all your Antibodies stored in a specific freezer box location. Or simply use the Location filter generate a list of all the contents of a refrigerator for a physical reconciliation. You can also check ‘No Location Set’ to see all items that do not have a location listed.
If you want to review the history of an item that has been re-ordered many times, run a search for the item and check the box under the Availability filter to include the out-of-stock history for the item as well as what you currently have in stock.
Sorting Options:
You can sort your inventory by Name, Type, Price, Quantity, and Date Received from the Inventory search menu. Click on the attribute you wish to sort by to reorder the display.
