Protocols.io is a secure platform for the sharing of research methods. Experiment protocols comprise an important part of the research assets that are organized and securely maintained in the ELN. The LabArchives integration allows you to export a protocol or the run record of a protocol from protocols.io and save it directly to your LabArchives notebook. After export, you will be able to view your Protocols.io PDFs from the LabArchives notebook page.
Please visit the protocols.io support page for additional information.
Connecting protocols.io to Your LabArchives Account
From your protocols.io account, click your first-name initial in the top-right corner and select Settings.
In the Settings menu, go to the Apps tab and click LabArchives. A Select LabArchives Server dialog will appear. Choose the server where your LabArchives account is hosted on.
A new window will open where you can connect the integration using your LabArchives credentials. If you use Single Sign-On (SSO) to access LabArchives, you’ll need to generate a temporary token. Be sure to log in to LabArchives first to retrieve the token before completing the integration.
Once connected, you can export your protocols directly to LabArchives. The connection will remain active until you return to Settings > Apps > LabArchives and choose to deactivate it.
Exporting from protocols.io to LabArchives
From your protocols.io account, visit to your workspace folder. Select the protocol you want to export and click the three-dot menu. Click Export, then choose PDF and select LabArchives.
Choose which part of the protocol to export: Compact View, Only Materials, Only Commands, or Only Steps.
A list of your LabArchives notebooks will appear. Double-click the notebook name and select a folder or page to copy your files to, then click Continue. If you click Continue on the notebook screen without selecting a folder or page, the protocol will be saved to a new page in your LabArchives notebook.
A confirmation message will appear once your files have been synced.
