This tutorial shows how to connect to LabArchives from Proofig AI and run an image integrity analysis drawing from a LabArchives notebook page. The overall workflow is the same as a regular Proofig AI submission. The main difference is that your images come from LabArchives instead of a local PDF or image upload.
The Proofig AI integration is available to anyone who has a Proofig AI subscription (individual, group, or enterprise). Proofig AI is also providing limited-time access for LabArchives users who do not have a Proofig AI subscription. For more information, view LabArchives and Proofig AI page.

The integration with Proofig AI brings image integrity to the earliest and most actionable point in the research lifecycle, when image assets are being uploaded to the ELN as part of the research documentation process. In minutes, Proofig AI can run what effectively amounts to millions of automated integrity checks, far beyond what any team could realistically do by eye, surfacing potential concerns, including duplications and other anomalies, while there is still time to correct, document, or repeat an experiment. This is essential for reproducibility: like a building made with flawed bricks and hidden under plaster, research can look solid on the surface even as hidden image issues quietly weaken the foundation. Once images are translated into quantified results and graphs, the original visual evidence is no longer front-and-center, and problems become far harder to spot or trace back. This partnership changes that dynamic by verifying images at the source, so scientific teams can build with confidence, protect credibility, and strengthen reproducibility across science.
Once you are logged into Proofig, open the To-Do page (your dashboard). Click on Upload your manuscript to open the submission flow.
On the Submit page, choose LabArchives as your image source.
Then select your LabArchives region.
Once you select your region, you may be asked to log into your LabArchives account if you do not have a session in progress. Once your account is connected, choose the notebook you want to analyze and the specific page that contains the images. Then click Select Page to import a .PDF of the image files on the page into Proofig AI.
On the Proofig AI submission page, confirm the authorization checkbox (you are the manuscript owner or you have permission to analyze these images).
Choose whether to skip the sub-image review stage or keep it enabled (recommended if you want to verify what was collected). Then click on Submit at the top left-hand corner to start processing.
Proofig AI will now process the submission and extract the relevant image data. You can monitor progress from the To-Do page, where the manuscript status appears while it’s running.
If you did not skip the sub-image phase, you’ll be taken to the sub-image review screen. This is where you can confirm that the correct images were collected from the LabArchives page. When you’re done, click Submit to continue.
Next, you’ll reach the Review page, where Proofig AI highlights suspected integrity issues.
On this page you can:
- Navigate between suspected findings
- Use filters and enhancement tools as needed
- Decide what to include in the final report
- To include a finding, click Add to report.
Once you’ve finished reviewing and selecting the relevant findings, click Generate Report.
Your report will include:
- The findings you selected
- Any comments you chose to include
You can then view, download, and share the report as needed.
