The Plain Text Entry provides an option for storing data that should be void of any special formatting that might be supported through the Rich Text Entry such as bold, italics, font styling, and other paragraph tools. It can be used for storing lines of code, simple notes, or when working on devices or browser that do not support rich text formatting.
While it lacks a visual formatting toolbar, Plain Text entries do support basic Markdown, allowing you to apply simple styles such as headings, lists, links, and emphasis. When editing, you'll see the raw Markdown syntax. After saving, the formatted version will be displayed.
To add a Plain Text entry to a page, select Plain Text from the + New Add Entry menu.
Plain Text entries with Markdown can be viewed and edited in three distinct modes. By default, the Plain Text Editor displays a split screen view, known as the Edit and View mode. This view shows both the Markdown syntax and the formatted output side-by-side. Clicking the Keyboard icon from the top-right will open the Edit mode and displays the raw Markdown syntax for editing (essentially taking away the View mode). Clicking the Eye icon from the top-right will open the View mode and displays the formatted content without showing Markdown syntax (essentially taking away the Edit mode). Clicking the available icon in the top right-corner will allow you to toggle through to your desire mode.
